Bob Oliver, President and CEO of Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OAPI) was named to Ebony Magazine’s 2016 Power 100 list of the world’s most influential and inspiring African Americans. He was recognized for his contributions to helping OAPI create a successful commercial organization, especially in the mental health space.
“I would like to thank Ebony for this honor. I am humbled to be recognized among such an accomplished list of individuals who are making a positive impact on all aspects of our society – from science to music to politics,” said Oliver. “I am proud to lead an organization that is so committed to identifying and providing treatment solutions for some of the most misunderstood and maligned mental health conditions and continuing to persevere in addressing the significant and pervasive unmet needs that these patients face on a daily basis.”
This prestigious list, which was first launched in 1985, serves as an annual recap of outstanding accomplishments by top and emerging leaders in the African American community. Joining Bob on this year’s list are notable influencers, including John Legend, Beyoncé, Michael Jordan, Niel deGrasse Tyson and The Obama family. Bob will be formally recognized on December 1, during the Ebony Power 100 gala taking place in Los Angeles.
Bob joined OAPI in 2010 after more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and quickly built up the organization’s commercial capabilities. In his current role, he manages a diverse portfolio of marketed and pipeline products across the neuroscience, cardiovascular, oncology and medical devices markets. He holds a B.A. degree from Rutgers University, as well as an M.B.A. degree in Marketing from the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University, where he serves on the Pharma Board of Directors.
